Application Deadline: October 31, 2010
Next School of Ministry Begins January 15, 2011
We are pleased to announce that the Calvary Chapel Melbourne School of Ministry is now accepting applications for its third group of students for the term beginning in January 2011.
The school is designed for men who believe they have a pastoral call on their lives, to train and equip them in all aspects of ministry, preparing them to possibly become future pastors in domestic or international churches. This is done through a wide variety of learning opportunities including Calvary Chapel's Bible College curriculum, many “hands-on” experiences, ministry projects, practical instruction in church administration and personal mentoring from pastors and church leaders.
According to Pastor Dave, "This has been a great way for us to provide training for men who feel called to the ministry. Both of our previous classes have been wonderful, and we continue to fine tune the school with input from our graduates. God is using them in a wide variety of ministries, and since this is local and we've tried to keep it extremely affordable, we feel it's an incredible opportunity for guys who desire to be pastors or missionaries."
The school is open to males who have been committed followers of Christ for a minimum of the past two years and have attended any of the Calvary Chapel Melbourne campuses for a minimum of six months. Candidates must have been married for at least one year by the start date, or if they're single, they must not be planning to get married within the two-year timeframe. They must also be involved in a small group, serving the body of Christ at one of our CCM campuses in some capacity, and tithing there as scripture mandates.
Limited Openings
Openings are limited to 18 men in order to keep class size small enough for personal interaction and mentoring. Students agree to a two-year commitment requiring an average of 12 hours per week which will include approximately seven hours in self-study via MP3 for Bible College, two hours of weekly class time and three hours per week doing hands-on ministry. Weekly class will meet most Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm at the CCM Melbourne campus.
For those who are married, Pastor Dave's wife, Barb, will lead a group for the wives once a month for fellowship, character building and to learn how to support their husband's calling. They will meet on Saturdays from 4:00 - 5:45 pm and childcare will be available.
To Apply
All applicants must complete a School of Ministry application. (See link at the bottom of this page to print it). They can also be picked up at the Information Center on any of our campuses. Applicants should complete the School of Ministry application and turn it in to the church office no later than October 31, 2010.
All applications will be reviewed, and finalists and their spouses will have an interview with various pastors and ministry leaders in November. Final selections will be made by the elders in December. Not all finalist candidates interviewed will be selected and while successful completion of the CCM School of Ministry does not guarantee a paid ministry position, students find they are much better prepared when the Lord opens doors for them.
