Announcing Our New Website!

January 24th, 2012
Every once in a while God gives us an idea that we just can’t wait to share with you and this is one of them! We’re excited to introduce to you our new website: changelookslikethis.com!

In January of 2011 we began producing video testimonies of people in our church family. As real people, not actors, they have bravely shared some of their most painful struggles and how their lives have been radically changed by the power of God. Abused, abandoned, addicted or affected by any host of life-altering circumstances, they have been completely restored in amazing ways. And according to Ken Berry, who has produced them all with his wife, Wendy, the response has been incredible.

“We’ve been so blessed to be part of the CHANGED project,” Ken explained. “We’ve been in the room where Lane describes being told he has Stage 4 lung cancer, where Angel describes being raped at gunpoint as a 12 year old and where Stephanie watched flesh go up a tube after a botched abortion. Moments later we see these same people describe the healing power of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The contrast we see in everyone is beyond remarkable. It’s a God thing – big time.”

“It’s been an amazing blessing to participate in this process,” he continued. “We hope the CHANGED website makes a difference in the lives of those who are hurting or feeling hopeless, or at rock bottom. These stories are relatable and prove there is hope and healing in our Savior, Jesus Christ.”

So check it out and tell your friends! God is still in the business of changing lives!

If you’d like your story to be considered, or would like more information, please contact Michele Acevedo at macevedo@calvaryccm.com.

Real 2012 Spring Women’s Conference

January 17th, 2012
If you joined us at our Amazing fall women’s retreat last year, you totally get why we’re big fans of Lisa Harper. She led us in an incredible weekend away with God’s girls. It left us so filled up, we’re eager for more of the same. So, who better to lead this year’s spring conference than Lisa’s close friend and speaking partner, Debbie Alsdorf. We’re bringing her to Melbourne – just for you!

This classy southern California girl is the real deal – fun, transparent, vulnerable and passionate about helping women have a dynamic walk with God. She’s also the founder of Design4Living Ministries and the author of several books including The Faith Dare, Beyond the Brady Bunch and A Different Kind of Wild.

Debbie says she got real about her faith years ago after going through a heart-breaking divorce. When she felt most unqualified and unusable to God, she experienced His grace in a way that changed everything. In fact, God’s done so much in her life she’s been called ‘a cheerleader of hope!’ No wonder everybody loves her.

Now Debbie has been happily married for 20 years, and as the mom of a blended family, she’ll speak to the deep places in our lives as one who’s been there, bringing a real touch from a very real God! With her humor, transparency and practical wisdom, this will be the perfect event to invite your friends.

So don’t wait! Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 27th through Wednesday, February 29th. They are $20 now or $25 the day of the conference, and include breakfast on Saturday. They can be purchased online at calvaryCCM.com or at The Chapel Store in Melbourne and Viera. No childcare will be available.

Community Emergency Response Team Training (CERT)

December 23rd, 2011

Here in Florida we know what the aftermath of a storm or a natural disaster can be like. Feelings of loss, confusion and despair, mixed with a mountain of clean up, can be devastating. We need someone who knows what they’re doing to come alongside us; someone with words of hope who can lend a hand and steer us through the crisis. We need help!

That’s where you come in! This is your chance to make a difference! As a trained extension of first responder services, you can offer immediate help in times of need. What a great way to be Jesus’ hands and feet to hurting people!

Offered in conjunction with the Melbourne Fire Department, this FREE five-week Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training class is open to the public and folks from all our campuses. It will equip you through classroom and training exercises, and no prerequisites are necessary, although class size is limited to 30 people.

You will learn how the EOC (Emergency Operation Center) works and how to get people to and from the best places for them to get help in a disaster. You will also be available to hand out water. The training will qualify you to be part of VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters), giving you the know-how to serve in disasters in your community or be deployed to disasters around the world.

“This prepares people to help others in their time of need due to disasters,” explained Ed Clark, Facilities Director at our CCM Viera campus, who went through CERT training two years ago. “Whether it’s the fires in Palm Bay or the floods in Lamplighter Village, this training puts you in a position to help. Even if it’s just to calm people down and direct them to safety, just knowing what you do can be a big reassurance to those who are affected.”

It also puts feet to our prayers when we say, “Here I am, Lord! Send me!”
Want to be part of the solution? Sign up and get ready to be used by God!

Strength and Courage LEO Conference

December 20th, 2011
Police officers risk their lives every day for their communities, standing in the gap between lawlessness and peace, predator and victim, and good and evil. The constant struggles and strains of the job can impact even the most diligent and dedicated officers. But when police officers and their families feel discouraged and weary, who is there to stand in the gap for them? The Bible says God will. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9.)

The 2012 Strength and Courage LEO Conference is dedicated to strengthening and encouraging law enforcement personnel and their families through fellowship with other officers, praise and worship, and sound instruction from God’s Word. This year’s conference is on Friday evening February 3rd, and morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday the 4th. The conference is open to all persons in any law enforcement capacity and family members.

Starting on Friday night, there will be games, patch trading, and time to mingle. Then Major Andy Walters with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will share his testimony of God’s grace through the grueling trials that he and his family have endured in the last year with the illness of his son Noah.

On Saturday, Geoffrey Leggett—24 year veteran of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Coordinator for Law Enforcement Training at Glendale Community College, in Glendale, Arizona—will present his classes on Emotional Survival Techniques for Law Enforcement Families, which helps families learn to identify and overcome the incredible stresses and challenges that are unique to police work. Geoffrey’s sessions will build upon each other to equip each person with solid strategies to survive and thrive in a law enforcement career, build and keep healthy family relationships, and draw ever closer to the Lord.

Former Homicide Detective and author Mark Mynheir will MC the event. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
