Now Accepting School of Ministry Applications

September 7th, 2010

Application Deadline: October 31, 2010

Next School of Ministry Begins January 15, 2011

We are pleased to announce that the Calvary Chapel Melbourne School of Ministry is now accepting applications for its third group of students for the term beginning in January 2011.

The school is designed for men who believe they have a pastoral call on their lives, to train and equip them in all aspects of ministry, preparing them to possibly become future pastors in domestic or international churches. This is done through a wide variety of learning opportunities including Calvary Chapel's Bible College curriculum, many “hands-on” experiences, ministry projects, practical instruction in church administration and personal mentoring from pastors and church leaders.

According to Pastor Dave, "This has been a great way for us to provide training for men who feel called to the ministry. Both of our previous classes have been wonderful, and we continue to fine tune the school with input from our graduates. God is using them in a wide variety of ministries, and since this is local and we've tried to keep it extremely affordable, we feel it's an incredible opportunity for guys who desire to be pastors or missionaries."

The school is open to males who have been committed followers of Christ for a minimum of the past two years and have attended any of the Calvary Chapel Melbourne campuses for a minimum of six months. Candidates must have been married for at least one year by the start date, or if they're single, they must not be planning to get married within the two-year timeframe. They must also be involved in a small group, serving the body of Christ at one of our CCM campuses in some capacity, and tithing there as scripture mandates.

Limited Openings

Openings are limited to 18 men in order to keep class size small enough for personal interaction and mentoring. Students agree to a two-year commitment requiring an average of 12 hours per week which will include approximately seven hours in self-study via MP3 for Bible College, two hours of weekly class time and three hours per week doing hands-on ministry. Weekly class will meet most Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm at the CCM Melbourne campus.

For those who are married, Pastor Dave's wife, Barb, will lead a group for the wives once a month for fellowship, character building and to learn how to support their husband's calling. They will meet on Saturdays from 4:00 - 5:45 pm and childcare will be available.

To Apply

All applicants must complete a School of Ministry application. (See link at the bottom of this page to print it). They can also be picked up at the Information Center on any of our campuses. Applicants should complete the School of Ministry application and turn it in to the church office no later than October 31, 2010.

All applications will be reviewed, and finalists and their spouses will have an interview with various pastors and ministry leaders in November. Final selections will be made by the elders in December. Not all finalist candidates interviewed will be selected and while successful completion of the CCM School of Ministry does not guarantee a paid ministry position, students find they are much better prepared when the Lord opens doors for them.

Smiling Faces Wanted to Help with Fall Fest!

August 23rd, 2010

DATE: Friday October 29, 2010

TIME: 6:00 - 9:00 PM

LOCATIONS: CCM, CCMV & CCMS parking lots, rain or shine

Are you ready to be part of an outreach so huge it will span all the way from Viera to Sebastian and beyond? An outdoor event so awesome that over 6,000 people showed up the last time we did it?! Then get ready to rock Brevard County with Fall Fest! Let the party begin! (But first, let's get organized!)

We are looking for volunteers for everything from grilling hotdogs to running games and handing out candy. We'll have tons of fun stuff for everyone, including live bands at each campus, carnival games, bounce houses, face painting, balloon tying and, of course, trunk loads of candy!

Did we mention everyone gets a free hotdog meal?! Yes, parents, this is one of those rare occasions when the words "FUN" and "FREE" actually go together!!

How Can I Help?

Bring Candy! Beginning September 11th trash can donation stations with the Fall Fest logo will be scattered around each campus for you to donate bags of individually wrapped candy. The more candy we get, the more families we can serve!

Sign Up to Serve! Volunteer forms can be picked up at the Children's Ministry check-in stations or the Information Centers on all three campuses. Once they're completed, please turn them back in at the Information Centers.

CCM volunteers will meet on Tuesday, September 14th from 6:00-7:30 pm in the CCM Cafe dining room. CCMV and CCMS meetings are yet to be scheduled, so watch the bulletin for more information. Each meeting will include an overview of the event followed by breakout sessions where team leaders explain the details of their area of service. Maps and instructions will be provided at the meeting. We are looking for hundreds of happy helpers to help set up, tear down, serve food, man bounce houses, greet guests, help with volunteer hospitality and hand out candy from their vehicles. If you're willing, we can put you to work!

Decorate Your Vehicle! Having a BIG God we know we can count on even BIGGER numbers than we've had in the past! So we are looking for 100 people willing to decorate their vehicles (trucks, tractors, cars, you name it!) at both CCM and CCMV, and 50 at CCMS. If you're interested, just check the box on the volunteer form and get creative!

Get the Word Out! Posters for you to hang around town and small invites to pass out to your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers will be available beginning Saturday, September 11th. Posters will be at the Children's Ministry greeter stations and the Information Centers. We'll also be advertising on Facebook this year and will be providing e-vites for you to invite your friends! How cool is that?!

Many parents greatly appreciate having a family friendly alternative that's safe and fun for the whole family, so we anticipate this year's Fall Fest to be huge! So if you're ready to live dangerously, sign up today and get ready to make a huge impact all across Brevard County! For more information you can email Ignite Children's Ministry at ignite@calvaryccm.com. Or you can reach CCM or CCMS by phone at  321.952.9673  or CCMV at 321.369.9339.

TIME: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Doors open at 9:30 AM

What could be better than having world renown Bible teacher (and all around funny person) Beth Moore drop by for a visit? Having her lead CCM's Fall Women's Conference!!! Beth will broadcast here live, from Chicago! She's one of the leading women's Bible teachers of our time, so to have her lead us live via simulcast, will be, well, amazing!

Every year thousands of women attend Beth's Living Proof conferences and we think you'll see why! She's as fun as she is firm in the Word, and as real as she is radiant with the joy of the Lord! She's written numerous Bible studies and books, and her teaching can be heard on radio and television in many parts of the world.

Joining Beth for this conference will be Travis Cottrell and his praise team from Nashville. Travis is an awesome contemporary worship leader and songwriter. Together they will provide a welcome respite from the craziness of the back-to-school blur!

So make plans now to join the CCM sisterfriends for a full day of refreshment and encouragement from God's Word. This is one conference you won't want to miss!

As noted, home groups from our Melbourne and Sebastian campuses will combine to host this event on Friday evening, and home groups from our Viera and east Orlando campuses will combine to host theirs on Sunday afternoon.

Take advantage of this great opportunity to invite your friends to something delightfully different as we celebrate the unique heritage with which we've been blessed. No sign up is necessary - just come!

So no matter where you live, we've got you covered! We have Spanish-speaking groups, Asian groups, young married couples and young singles. Yet most are a mix of believers from different walks of life that share a common goal - to simply know God better.

New Beginnings 101/ Growing Deeper with God 201

August 17th, 2010

DATES:  CCM & CCMV: NB 101 Tuesdays starting August 31, 2010; GD 201 starts October 12, 2010 at 7:00 PM

CCMS: NB 101 Wednesdays starting September 1, 2010; GD 201 starts October 13, 2010 at 6:45 PM

So you're sitting in a service and God starts tugging on your heart. Not having a clue what all this really means, you take a deep breath and commit your life to Him. People clap and cheer you on as you make your way to the front, and for possibly the first time in your life, you know you're doing the right thing.

Okay...so now what? How do you get from this point to the joy and purpose you see in so many Christ followers? What exactly do they do anyway, and where do they start?!

Glad you asked!

The team at CCM has developed two classes for people like you to answer your questions and get you headed in the right direction. New Beginnings 101 is a six week study geared to anyone who feels they could benefit from learning the basic principles of the faith. Growing Deeper with God 201 is the next six week class in the series, digging deeper into these same topics. Participants can join anytime during the six weeks.

The awesome thing about both classes is that their format! Rather than lectures, they start with a short teaching and then break into small groups where you can ask questions and discuss what you're learning.

They also go beyond the "why" and demonstrate "how." So for example, after learning about how to hear God's voice, your small group leader will guide you, step by step, through your own quiet time, sharing ways to read scripture, how to journal and how to put a prayer journal together! It's the perfect place to get answers!

Topics

  • Week 1 - Am I Really Saved?
  • Week 2 - Does God Speak to Me?
  • Week 3 - Why Church?
  • Week 4 - How Do I Tell Others How Jesus Changed My Life?
  • Week 5 - Help! How Do I Live the Christian Life?

"We want to help others to cultivate a relationship with God. The goal is not to finish these classes but to have a life-transforming encounter with God. A love relationship with God is more important than anything else in life," explained Pastor Shawn Barr, one of the New Beginnings/Growing Deeper class leaders.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and over and over people say they're finding so much joy in their walk with God as they understand how do to it! Come see for yourself!

Just sign up at the Information Center on all three campuses. For more information please call the office at  321.952.9673 .

Enjoying Marriage on the River of Life!

August 14th, 2010

Ever been whitewater rafting? Your heart pounds with each twist and turn. Your adrenaline flows as you narrowly miss each boulder. It's pure excitement and can be extremely challenging. You never know what to expect around the next bend, but that's what makes it such an adventure!

When you're done, you're left with a overwhelming sense of accomplishment. You did it! You looked danger in the face, and you conquered! It's that teamwork in the face of great obstacles that makes it so exhilarating!

Marriage is a lot like that. It has it's share of excitement and challenges too, and tons of surprises we never see coming. At times it feels like our raft has sprung a leak. and if we don't get help, we'll go under!

But there's hope! The Bible teaches us how to not just survive the ride, but really enjoy the adventure on the river of life!

Join us on the weekend of September 4th as we begin Pastor Mark's series, Enjoying Marriage on the River of Life. We'll learn some simple keys from God's Word since He designed marriage in the first place!

Simply put, marriage matters to God. His Word has all the answers we need to keep us flowing together with purpose and fulfillment on the river of life!

RUSH: The Event

August 11th, 2010

DATE: First Friday of Every Month
TIME: 8:00 PM, Doors Open at 6:00 for Food & Fellowship
LOCATION:
Calvary Chapel Melbourne Viera Campus

rushGod has wired young adults to want more out of life - to stretch the boundaries of the norm and chart their own path. It's an insatiable yearning to break out of the mold - to do something radical with their lives that will shake things up. To leave their mark on society in a way that will truly make a difference.

Now pair that zeal for adventure with a radical commitment to Christ, and you've got a revolution in the making. A generation gone right. A force to be reckoned with.

Acts 2:2 describes a similar situation. The Holy Spirit showed up to the disciple's prayer meeting like "a mighty rushing wind..," filling them with boldness and power from on high.

The result? The world was never the same.

It's in the power of this same Holy Spirit we bring RUSH to Viera and the surrounding communities. This monthly event will feature awesome live music, teaching and fellowship in an atmosphere that's ripe for God to move. Kevin and his crew will have the cafe humming so you can come early, get some food and hang out.

Pastor Beau DiFrenna, young adult pastor at the Melbourne campus, is heading this up. "Our vision for RUSH is for young adults to gather together from all the surrounding areas for an amazing event once a month. It will be a time that we are just real and completely sold out for the Lord. We're praying it will impact the community in a huge way for Christ."

You Can Help Us

We are looking for two things: people to serve and people to pray. As with any new ministry, both are necessary to make RUSH all God wants it to be. Are you willing? Contact Dayna at dgonzalez@calvaryccm.com or call the church office at 321.952.9673 or 321.369.9339 for more information.

Get there. God will be waiting for you.

The 5 C’s of the CCM Family!

August 4th, 2010

You've heard Pastor Mark talk about them... You've run across them once in a while in the bulletin... But really, what's the big deal about these "5 C's" anyway? And what in the world do they have to do with you?!

Everything! If you've made a decision to follow Christ, then the 5 C's are your roadmap to an exciting walk with God! They're the key elements we find in Scripture that helped the disciples turn their world upside down! And for that reason, they're the heart and soul of who we are at CCM. Have a look!

COMMIT to be a growing follower of Christ. A committed Christ follower no longer leads his life; he chooses to follow God in full obedience to Him. This happens when you realize you’re a sinner, recognize that Christ died for you, repent of your sins, and receive Him as your personal Savior. Following Christ is not an event; it’s the greatest lifestyle in all the world! If you haven't already, we invite you to begin this new life in Christ today. It's too good to miss!

CELEBRATE and live the fulfilling lifestyle. Here at CCM we celebrate our new life in Christ 24/7! He knows us by name, He forgives all our sins, He directs our steps, He gives us the power and desire to live for Him, He works all things together for our good and He promises us that we’ll live forever with Him in heaven! It doesn’t get any better than that! With this kind of a “benefit package,” how could we help but celebrate?

CONNECT to others in personal vibrant relationships. To really grow in Christ, we can’t just be committed; we also need to connect with other believers. Here at CCM, we make every effort to make a large church feel like family. That happens best in our 100+ small groups, Bible studies and home groups that meet all the way from Port St. John to Vero Beach to Orlando. So come grow in your walk with God and make some new friends. We've got a spot just for you!

COMMUNICATE the good news to everyone everywhere. Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Those words are the heartbeat of our church, both locally and throughout the world, because lost people matter to God. Our part is to communicate the good news with passion and power, so we regularly reach out to those in our communities and beyond, meeting needs and sharing the love of Jesus. One by one we're making a difference for eternity. It's our greatest privilege!

CONTRIBUTE your time, passion, talents and possessions. God’s work on earth is accomplished by Christ followers who give what they have to bless others. We see that demonstrated here at Calvary in many ways. From the army of volunteers who so generously invest their time and talents, to the generosity of God’s people giving their tithes and offerings, the results are the same. Those who contribute find purpose and fulfillment, and the work gets done with joy and excellence! So go ahead – find a place to serve, and see for yourself that it truly is more blessed to give than to receive!
